We are a family business, sisters, daughters and mother. I'm writing this as a daughter.
In 2012 we lost our dad to lung cancer. We found out that he was dying on my Mother's birthday. They had been married for 50 years. We were told that he had just 3 months to to live. He lasted just 4 short months. We were lucky to have this extra time with him.
Everyone who has lost a loved one knows how stressful the days and weeks before and after the loss can be. Every little thing in planning for the loss is of utmost importance. Everything needs to go smoothly.
We took my Dad's ashes to Greece where we had all enjoyed family holidays together. Mum carried a big urn all that way and scattered some of the ashes in the sea. She brought the remaining ashes back and they are still in her living room. She takes comfort from the fact that some physical part of Dad is still with her.
The urn that holds Dad's ashes is beautiful to look at and discrete enough to be displayed openly.
I wish that we had known then that there is also beautiful and discrete cremation jewellery available. It was only later that we found so many lovely jewellery pieces. It would have been far easier to carry some Dad's ashes to Greece in a pendant or bracelet and then to re-fillthe chamber when we returned. At least Mum now has a stunning necklace.
